I really wanted to see the main site of the 1992 Olympic Games, as Beijing is holding the Olympic Games next year. Because of the bus strike today, I took the metro to Montjuic. On my way, I went to the see the Olympic Stadium, the telecommunications tower and the Olympic and Sports Museum. Later, I walked down the hill and visited the Museum National Art Gallery. Close to MNAC, it’s Placa d’Espanya. It was for 1929 International Exhibition and 1992 Olympic Games. I dropped by CaixaForum there as well.
Later on, I met Y at the Columbus Monument. From there, we took a stroll in the Old Town. I went up to Casa Batllo, the finest examples of modernist style. It built between 1904 and 1906. We visited the mezzanine floor, the attic and rooftop with its undulating chimneys. Not so far from here, it’s Passeig de Gracia – the triumph of the curve in Gaudi’s architecture. It was built by Gaudi between 1906 and 1910. The stone front with its wrought iron balconies, evoked the motion of the waves. At last, we went to Sagrada Familia – Gaudi’s dream. It was still under construction. We didn’t get in and I wanted to visit it again when it’s done.
