This doesn’t fit with my report. I need to cut it off, so I put it here.
John Dewey, the educational philosopher, defined learning as “the continual process of discovering insights, inventing new possibilities for action, and observing the consequences leading to new insights” (Dewey 1933). The concept of lifelong learning has been changing traditional views towards education, since it was proposed. During the last decades, most important research organisations (EC, OECD, UNESCO, etc.) have put more and more efforts in lifelong learning research, but none of them have conducted extensive research studies in lifelong learning in higher education.
Longworth (2003) defines Lifelong learning as “the development of human potential through a continuously supportive process which stimulates and empowers individuals to acquire all the knowledge, values, skills and understanding they will require throughout their lifetimes and to apply them with confidence, creativity and enjoyment in all roles, circumstances, and environments” (Longworth 2003).
